It really felt like GW was trying to do something with the franchise. There was a ton of new art, models were getting updated and they were gorgeous, and for the first time since its release the story of WHFB was advancing. Honestly I still find the End Times Nagash to be my favorite piece of lore just cause of the scale and how everything blended together. In all the End Times was not the worst piece of lore that GW has ever released. I also really like how they are now taking an episodic approach to the story, releasing book updates that continue the story of the setting instead of it being a static, stale world that never changes (pre-End Times). My favourite thing however is that Nagash is now the supreme overlord of all undead, and controls them utterly, since before his control over them was tenuous at best. I like the Stormcast Eternals, because they represent mortals truly fighting back against Chaos. I really like how they've taken daring steps in the lore that shows the game has changed, like a Chaos God being abducted / killed (Slaanesh), showing they aren't indestructible anymore. I like the fact they have brought back the old cast of characters, bar a few, and it is essentially Warhammer: The Sequel (or Warhammer Episode 2: The Age of Sigmar as I like to call it). Honestly I find Age of Sigmar very interesting. Overall I think Warhammer had to end this way because it was just stale, not just in terms of sales and how much money it was making, but also in terms of the setting - it was too convoluted and a drastic change needed to take place. Basically if they were more like the creatures from HP Lovecraft's stories I would find them scary - the mystery and malice combine to make them really frightening in an anxiety-inducing way. The less we know of them the better I say. I would find them far more terrifying and threatening if they were an unconscious force, not a team of individual, quantified characters about which everything is known. First of all, the fact that the Chaos Gods just win by deus ex and are presented as completely unstoppable and indestructible is stupid, because the actual characterisation of the Chaos Gods is not very good. I thought the first End Times book was very good, and I really enjoyed reading it (Nagash). Any other people find more fluff about the 9th age stuff the community is doing. I quite enjoy what is being done over at 1d4chan.Įndhammer is more of a type of, should I say "Fallout" version to the End Times final. I've been going around the internet trying to find some alternatives for the ending. Good thing you get to kill Karl Franz over and over and over till his stupid Empire falls.Īs for the rest, I totally agree with the fact that some of the ideas were pretty okay, but that the total annihalation of the world was a pretty dumb choice. I also quite liked seeing Sigvald getting his head caved in by Throgg the Troll King, and Scyla Anfingrimm using the head of the Dwarf slayers as a toy.Īnd I liked seeing Archaon completely roflstomp Karl Franz. The SUPERMAN characters were pretty stupid (they made super powerful versions of characters, that were neigh unstoppable on the TT), but there were other things which I quite enjoyed. Had it not been the end of WHFB, there would, imo, be no problem with it.Ī lot of new cool models and rules were introduced during it. I'm not super into the lore or game anymore, but I can understand why fans were.less than thrilled. Maybe your units will still have rules later down the line, unlikely though as they're slowly phased out. Wissenland is no more and your characters all got horribly murdered because GW said so. You've spent an ungodly, probably over a 1000 dollars, making this army! The banners fly proudly, your characters are each converted and amazing with their own backstories and such. You have beautifully bought, assembled and painted your army of Wissenland. More accurately, perhaps: You are a.say Empire player. Monopoly? Using a mixture of lawsuits and lobbying, the top hat set the board on fire and now rules the ashes. Game of Thrones? White Walkers just wiped out everyone, the world is a white wasteland. Lord of the Rings? Aragorn, Sam, Gimli, Legolas.they all got killed, sorry. Take your favourite setting in any book or movie, have all the characters get butchered and the world basically wiped out. You remember how people were upset about Rome being wiped out in the early patches of Rome 2? Take that and multiply it with 20 000.
